Oscar Nominations 2010|Oscar Nomination Predictions For 2010 - Every time I go to the supermarket and stand in line to check out I see dozens of magazines or tabloids about celebrities. My question to anyone that buys these magazines or cares what is inside is, why do you care?

Oscar Nominations 2010 - I can understand going to a movie because you are a fan of the star. I personally try to see any movie that Tom Hanks is in because he makes excellent films. I can understand why a person might want to go to a concert to see their favorite musician. There are many examples where a fan could be interested in a celebrity. That is where it should stop though. Why do people care if Nick and Jessica are breaking up? Why do people care what Ben Affleck is doing? If it wasn’t for Matt Damon and “Good Will Hunting” he would be working a construction site like he was in the movie, because he hasn’t made a good movie since.

If my next door neighbor is having trouble with his spouse it is not found all over the magazines and tabloids. Why are “celebrities” personal lives any different? They are not any more important than the rest of us, or are they? It is our hard earned money that makes these people famous in the first place. There are movie stars making $20 million a movie because we buy the tickets. There are drug dealers/gang bangers, making a fortune as rap stars because we buy their CD’s and tickets to see them in concert.

The most unfortunate part of this fascination with celebrities is that more often than not, they are bad influences on younger people and bad examples to society in general. It is very discouraging when you see celebrities rarely being found guilty of crimes because they have high-priced attorneys that get them off. This is not to say they are all guilty but I think there have been cases when a guilty man was set free. Celebrities act as if they are immune to the same laws that apply to the rest of us.

It seems as time passes that people’s priorities become more and more distorted. Instead of focusing our time and energy on people who need it, whether they are sick, homeless, undereducated, or what have you, people spend time and money following the people who need no help from anyone because they can buy all the help they need. Somehow I did not feel bad for Jennifer Anniston and Brad Pitt when they broke up. Both are very well-off financially, both are very attractive, they had multiple homes together with servants to handle all their needs. Their biggest concern was selling off their main home for $20 million. This is just not reality, but then again, maybe that is the reason people are caught up in their lives. At least the magazines and tabloids that discuss these very wealthy people do serve one purpose, they help to keep the homeless people warm on those artic winter nights.

Obat Perangsang Wanita kadang juga punya efek sampingan yang kurang baik bagi kesehatan kita semua.terutama bagi para wanita tentunya.Seorang lelaki berusia 52 tahun ditemukan tewas di kamar 914 Hotel Hanoman Inn Kota Semarang, Jawa Tengah, Kamis (14/1). Diduga lelaki yang masuk kamar bersama wanita itu tewas akibat overdosis obat kuat.

Obat Perangsang yang telah menewaskan seorang lelaki tersebut, harus selalu kita waspadai. Saat ditemukan, kondisi korban bernama Leonard Adha mengenaskan. Tubuhnya sudah agak bau serta lebam-lebam. Sementara itu teman wanita sudah tidak ada di dalam kamar. Kini kasus ini dalam penyelidikan Kepolisian Resor Semarang.

Menurut keterangan satpam, korban masuk kamar 914 bersama seorang perempuan. Namun sampai batas waktu chek out, ternyata korban tak juga keluar. Akhirnya karyawan hotel bersama satpam membuka kamar menggunakan kunci duplikat.

Belum Ada Kasus Pembobolan dana Kepanikan Nasabah Bank di Jatim

Skimmer ATM| Kenali Waspadai Skimmer ATM - Konsolidasi langsung dilakukan oleh perbankan di Jawa Timur pasca kasus pembobolan dana di Bali melalui ATM (automatic teller machine). Enam perwakilan bank yang mengalami masalah pembobolan berkumpul di Gedung bank Indonesia (BI) Surabaya untuk membicarakan langkah-langkah yang harus segera dilakukan. Keenam bank tersebut adalah BCA, Bank Mandiri, BNI, BRI, BII, dan Bank Permata.

Pemimpin Regional BI Jatim Mohamad Ishak mengakui bahwa hingga saat ini belum ada kasus pembobolan dana maupun kepanikan nasabah bank di Jatim. Bahkan, dia juga tidak melihat atau menerima laporan adanya antrean nasabah di ATM untuk mengecek saldo, seperti yang terjadi di Jakarta. "Kantor-kantor BI di daerah bergerak cepat. Semua berkonsolidasi dengan cabang-cabang bank di daerah bersangkutan," ujarnya.

Di wilayah Jatim, Bank Indonesia memiliki kantor di Surabaya, Kediri, Malang, dan Jember. Semua telah meminta kepada bank-bank di wilayah masing-masing untuk mengecek ulang mesin ATM dan electronic data capture (EDC, mesin gesek yang lazim digunakan untuk transaksi elektronik). "Mulai tadi pagi (kemarin, red) telah dilakukan," kata Ishak.

Berdasar penyelidikan awal, diketahui bahwa pembobolan disebabkan adanya pencurian data kartu ATM melalui proses skimming/taping dan pengintipan PIN oleh sindikat pembobol. Pelaku menggunakan alat tambahan berupa ATM Skimmer untuk meng-copy data nasabah secara magnetik.

Karena kejahatan yang dilakukan berbasis teknologi, Ishak mengatakan bahwa BI tidak akan mengambil langkah berlebihan yang bisa menimbulkan keresahan nasabah. BI juga tidak dalam kapasitas mengatur secara teknis permasalahan ATM, seperti halnya tata letak mesin ATM. "Ini kejahatan berbasis teknologi, maka harus dilawan dengan kecanggihan teknologi pula. Dalam konteks ini, BI terus mendorong penggunaan ATM berbasis chip yang hingga kini tidak bisa dipalsukan," kata Ishak.

Saat ini, hampir semua ATM bank masih menggunakan magnetic strip yang cukup mudah dipalsukan. Apalagi jika data-data pelanggan berhasil dicuri. "Memang ada sejumlah bank yang sudah menggunakan chip untuk kartu debit maupun ATM. Tapi, jumlahnya tidak banyak," ujarnya.

Deputi Pemimpin Regional BI Jatim Bidang Sistem Pembayaran Mahmud menambahkan, BI telah mengonfirmasi keamanan sistem ATM di seluruh bank yang beroperasi di Jatim, terutama kepada enam bank yang terkait kasus pembobolan di Bali. "Kita sudah cek sistem ATM mereka. Sudah banyak ATM yang dilengkapi teknologi anti-skimmer. Jadi, kami kira aman dan bisa berjalan normal," tuturnya.

Sementara itu, Kepala Kanwil III BCA Surabaya Joni Handriyanto mengatakan bahwa pihaknya terus meng-update sistem keamanan perbankan di wilayahnya. Buktinya, sejak tahun lalu, semua ATM BCA di Jatim telah di beri penutup tombol angka. Selain itu juga ada CCTV atau kamera pengintai. "Anti-skimmer telah terpasang," katanya.

Tsunamis in the Bible

The recent Tsunamis that happened in West Sumatra and the tremendous destruction that came with it got me thinking - was this what really happened to the Egyptian army when they were pursuing the Hebrew people while they were led out of Egypt by Moses?

On the internet, many eyewitness accounts can be obtained very fast. Pictures taken by amateurs appeared on the news channels within hours of the event. Many people were able to witness the destructive effects of gigantic waves through these movies. Death just happens in an instance with the pounding of 700 kph waves that destroyed everything in its path.

Ironically, just a few hundred meters away, people were busy with their shopping, eating, laughing, as if nothing happens. Nobody had expected such fury and destruction. It was just like a monster coming in and swallowing its victims.

On that eventful Sunday of 26th December 2004, I was attending Mass at our local church. At approximately 0900 hrs, I could feel a very slight tremor while I was listening to the homily delivered by our Parish priest.

The tremor was so slight that at first I thought I was not feeling well and felt a bit dizzy. Then I noticed that many other people were looking around them as if they also felt something. My neighbor sitting next to me could not even feel anything.

Everybody went home without even suspecting anything amiss.

My family and I even went over to a shopping complex very near to the seaside where the tsunami hit. That was at about 1300 hrs.

Back to the event of the Exodus. About 4 thousand years ago, there was a report in the bible that the Red Sea parted, and the Hebrew people led by Moses were able to walk through the sea as if it were dry land.

After they had cross over the seabed, the pursuing armies of the Egyptian pharaoh followed in their trails. The wheels of their chariots got stuck in the mud, and the water came back, swept and destroyed them. None of them survived.

I was wondering. The waters must have come in very fast! How come none of the soldiers were able to escape? The recent Tsunami, triggered by an undersea earth tremor seems to provide a living example of what can cause the water to rise so high and so suddenly that none of them could survive.

The recent tsunami was caused by an earth tremor. Was it likely to occur at the Red Sea? Sure enough, some areas in the Mediterranean were well known for volcanic activity.

Was it possible that 4 thousand years ago, something like this happened?

I have never seen such destructive forces at work before. Houses, people and buildings were swept out of the way like match sticks. It's so swift and sudden. It brought to mind the words Jesus Christ spoke, "On that night, I tell you, there will be two people sleeping in the same bed: one will be taken away, the other will be left behind. Two women will be grinding meal together: one will be taken away, the other will be left behind" (Luke 17:34-35). This sobering passage was referring to the final days of the coming of the Kingdom. But it does dawn on me that nothing is impossible with God. It's only we who do not believe such a thing can happen.

This tsunami event left a lasting impression on me to never underestimate the power of God. The bible is so full of such events, God bringing in locust, bees, flies, plaque and many other natural phenomenons to show His power. The story of how Gideon with his 300 men defeating 120,000 enemies, and many other stories tell us that seemingly unimportant people led by the power of God was able to conquer impossible odds.

Actually it does not matter to me anymore whether a tsunami really parted the Red Sea or not although I wonder how it happened. It does not matter to me anymore how the sun is able to shine, how the weather behaves, how the many different species of plants and animals come to inhabit the earth. How the minute cells of living things are able to grow... The wonders of God are really too much to comprehend. It's simply awesome!

But there is something I do know. The bible is God's chosen medium of communication with humans. In every situation of our lives, God is able to communicate with us if only we allow Him to.

Unfortunately, many people find it difficult or boring to read the bible. They are missing a lot in their lives.

If you haven’t heard an Apple Tablet rumor by now, you’ve most likely been living in a cave somewhere for the past year. It’s all anybody can talk about, especially since it could launch at the end of the month.

With the daily deluge of rumors flooding your TwitterTwitterTwitter stream and RSS feeds, it’s easy to become cynical about the mythical device. Why should you care about a device that has no confirmation at all of its existence?

The answer is that its potential impact could be nothing short of revolutionary. Like the iPod and the iPhone, an Apple-built tablet could not only become a consumer hit, but actually redefine multiple industries and how they do business. Here are just some of the ways an Apple Tablet could spark a revolution.
1. Publishing and Media

Let’s start with the most obvious choice: Media. We’ve covered the previous rumors that Apple wants to redefine print with its rumored tablet. While the Kindle has done a lot to bring print into digital form, a tablet could be far more suited for reading the newspaper, opening up your textbook, and even sharing notes. Hell, Wired’s already preparing for the tablet.

The simple point is that it’s easier to carry a smart tablet than 300 hardcover books and 20 newspapers with you. Apple’s tablet will almost certainly have a focus on bringing all of print into the digital world, whether the industry is ready for it or not.

A few days ago, a rumor spread that Apple was designing the tablet specifically for the healthcare industry. While we, of course, have no idea whether the tablet is being made for doctors or whether it’s being made at all, the notion is very logical.

First, the iPhone is already a tool that doctors use to save lives. If the tablet can run apps, then those tools will immediately be at their disposal. Second, it has the capability to replace the clipboard by accessing digital records, making medical data easy-to-search, and having references built right into the tablet.

Healthcare is a lagging industry in terms of technological adoption, but if any company has the resources to break that barrier, it’s Apple.
3. Entertainment

Entertainment is another industry that could be immediately affected by an Apple Tablet. It’s big enough to provide easy viewing for your movies and television shows. And if the 3G rumors are true, you could access that data via an iPhone app. Having the ability to view TV from anywhere is no small deal.

It’s not just the TV and movie experience that could potentially be upended, either. Gaming would get a completely new platform, paving the way for a new wave of touchscreen games, depending on how the tablet is designed (I wouldn’t want to hold the tablet in one hand and touchscreen with the other). It probably won’t have the same effect on the music industry as the iPod had, though.
4. Finance

The finance industry is a giant behemoth with many arms — trading, banking, personal finance, and investment banking, just to name a few. The tablet could have a dramatic impact on all of these areas.

Trading: Traders need to have information at their fingertips and make trades in an instant. Many use their mobile phones or specialized devices for this, but a tablet could present a lot more information and be far more dynamic. You could see tablets everywhere on the floor eventually.

Banking: Bank tellers could process information with the tablet and easily hand it over to someone else when the situation arises. A tablet would be a far more effective way of sharing financial data or even making payments. The need for paperwork would be gone.

Personal Finance: With apps like Mint (Mint) at your fingertips, managing your finances would be a snap. If tablets have a wireless way to communicate with one another, it could also prove to be the ultimate payment system.

Investment Banking: In addition to facilitating faster and more effective trading, investment banks could use them to quickly conduct research and swap notes.

The right software and the right interface could stir many financial institutions to purchase Apple Tablets in bulk.

5. Computing

Consider the big picture with this final industry. For years, we’ve relied on desktops and laptops with bulky keyboards. Only recently has mobile become a computing force, but even that is nothing compared to the computing industry.

Imagine that the Apple Tablet comes with a new type of tactile, gesture-based keyboard, something a recent Apple patent supports. Imagine you can type almost as well on it as you can with a keyboard, or even 75% as well. It immediately becomes a great device for computing on the go, an object that could be used as a primary computer if you wanted to.

Now imagine that the devices does have a few input ports, specifically two USB ports. Now you have a device that can be connected to your keyboard and mouse, as well as your other devices potentially. Stick the tablet on a stand and it’s a computer. Unplug and take it with you and your computer can come with you, even easier than a laptop.

While this was a thought exercise, this is the type of thing Apple has clearly thought about in the tablet process. If the Apple Tablet proves to be real, you can expect this type of imaginative thinking to be present in every aspect of the tablet’s design, interface, and functionality.

This is why the media and millions of early adopters care so much about the potential tablet and the rumors: Its potential as a revolutionary device is very real.
